New Release and Review: Savor You by Kristen Proby

Savor You by Kristen Proby
A Fusion Novel
Publication Date: April 24th, 2018
Genre: Contemporary Romance

In the next sizzling romance in Kristen Proby’s New York Times bestselling Fusion series, two celebrity chefs compete in a culinary competition, but resisting each other will prove to be the greater challenge.

Cooking isn’t what Mia Palazzo does, it’s who she is. Food is her passion . . . her pride . . . her true love. She’s built a stellar menu full of delicious and sexy meals for her restaurant, Seduction. Now, after being open for only a few short years, Mia’s restaurant is being featured on Best Bites TV. To say Seduction is a wild success is an understatement. All the blood, sweat, tears, and endless hours of work Mia has put into the restaurant has finally paid off.

Then Camden Sawyer, the biggest mistake of her life, walks into her kitchen . . .

Camden’s celebrity chef status is world-renowned. He’s the best there is, and the kitchen is where he’s most at home. He can’t resist the invitation to Portland for a showdown against Mia for a new television show. Mia was in his life years ago, and just like before, he’s met his match in the beautiful Italian spitfire. The way she commands the kitchen is mesmerizing, and her recipes are clever and delicious. He’s never had qualms about competition, and this is no different. He can’t wait to go head to head with Mia. But can he convince her the chemistry theyshare in the kitchen would be just as great in the bedroom as well?

As Mia and Camden face off, neither realizes how high the stakes are as their reputations are put on the line and their hearts are put to the ultimate test.

This is the final book in Kristen Proby’s Fusion series.  All the other girls from Seduction have their HEA and now we finally get to learn of Mia’s past and watch her find her HEA.  Don’t let that mislead you.  This is a complete standalone book.  The series is interconnected with each book about a different couple.  The characters are in each book but you do not need to have read the others to thoroughly enjoy this book.

Mia is feisty, stubborn, passionate, and even a little prickly (in the best possible way).  She’s very loyal to her friends.  She is also not your typical heroine.  She is overweight, or I’d rather say voluptuous, and several times in this book the struggles about her weight are brought to the forefront.  I love that the author did this so much!  Especially since I’m also “voluptuous” and have experienced some of the same things Mia has.  Just because you have a few extra pounds doesn’t mean you can’t find your HEA.

Camden is amazing.  He’s strong, determined, charming, and captivating.  I love that he lets Mia be a strong woman.  He only encourages her and praises her for who she is, weight, stubbornness, prickliness included.  We all need a Camden in our life.

This was a fun, light, quick read.  With many of Kristen Proby’s books and especially with this series, you get very little angst (if any at all).  It’s just a great story.  I always appreciate these types of books.  This was a great way to end this series.

Meet Kristen:

Kristen was born and raised in a small resort town in her beloved Montana. In her mid-twenties, she decided to stretch her wings and move to the Pacific Northwest, where she made her home for more than a dozen years.

During that time, Kristen wrote many romance novels and joined organizations such as RWA and other small writing groups. She spent countless hours in workshops, and more mornings than she can count up before the dawn so she could write before going to work. She submitted many manuscripts to agents and editors alike, but was always told no. In the summer of 2012, the self-publishing scene was new and thriving, and Kristen had one goal: to publish just one book. It was something she longed to cross off of her bucket list.

Not only did she publish one book, she’s since published close to thirty titles, many of which have hit the USA Today, New York Times and Wall Street Journal Bestsellers lists. She continues to self publish, best known for her With Me In Seattle and Boudreaux series, and is also proud to work with William Morrow, a division of HarperCollins, with the Fusion Series.

Kristen and her husband, John, make their home in her hometown of Whitefish, Montana with their two pugs and two cats.

New Release and Review: Whiskey Chaser by Lucy Score

Title: Whiskey Chaser
Release Date: Friday, April 13th
Deets: Book #1 in the brand new Bootleg Springs series
Genre: Romantic Comedy

“I’m afraid my vagina might turn itself inside out if you try to give it another orgasm so soon.” — Scarlett Bodine

Raised by her three overbearing brothers, Scarlett is a hell-raising tomboy with a tool belt. A tornado stirring up trouble everywhere she goes. Her favorite pastimes? Drinking any man under the table and two-stepping. But she has zero interest in love. Scarlett’s only being neighborly when she claims her sexy next-door neighbor as her new pet project.

Devlin is a man at rock bottom. Marriage, political career, five-year plan to Washington, D.C. All destroyed with one well-placed jab. The golden boy is now the black sheep relegated to Bootleg Springs, a tiny West Virginia town with two claims to fame: 1. Moonshine and 2. The cold case disappearance of a teen girl.

Devlin just wants to lick his wounds. But Scarlett has other ideas for his tongue… and the rest of him. She’s determined to bring him back to life, even if getting him back on his feet means never seeing him again. But when an old mystery becomes new news, she’ll need his help to survive the scandal.

Since her very first book Lucy Score has been an automatic-one-click-don’t-even-have-to-read-the-blurb-will-ALWAYS-buy author.  She is one of a very short list of authors that I seriously fan-girl over.  When I fall in love with one of her books, I sometimes wonder that her next book can’t be better than this one.  Well, every time she proves me wrong.  Lucy has paired with Claire Kingsley to bring us this new series.  Full disclosure…I’ve only read one of Claire Kingsley’s books which was a heart-wrenching book that I did enjoy, and  have heard good things about her others.  In short…this book is AMAZING!

This book is the first in an interconnected series.  Each book is a complete standalone focusing on a particular couple.  What ties the series together is the family and a mystery that is uncovered in the first book.  Trust me, the mystery does not overtake the book or distract from the couple.  It’s just an extra layer of goodness.

Bootleg Springs is a small town that’s famous for its moonshine.  Its characters are quirky but loveable and loyal.  It’s everything you think a small town should be.  When I read Lucy’s Blue Moon series, I thought I wanted to live in Blue Moon.  Well, I’ve repacked my bags and I’m moving to Bootleg Springs!  The heroine, Scarlett, is a spitfire.  She is independent, sassy, and amazing.  She is the local handyman and has no problem putting anyone in their place.  Delvin is a disgraced lawmaker going through a divorce that has escaped to Bootleg Springs to recover.  At the beginning of this book Delvin is vulnerable and lost.  Over the course of the book Scarlett and the residents of Bootleg Springs put the life and fun back in Delvin.  The secondary characters in this book are as wonderful and interesting as the main characters.  I want to know more about all of them.  I can’t wait to read the rest of this series (especially after that Epilogue!!!).

If you are looking for a small town rom-com with quirky characters then Lucy Score should be your go-to author.  If you are looking for a strong, sassy, independent heroine, then Lucy Score should definitely be your go-to author.  I haven’t read an author that does small town rom-coms or sassy heroines better.  I don’t give many 5 star reviews, but with this book I wish I could give it more than 5 stars.  This book and this author should be next on your TBR list.  It has definitely moved to the list of books I will always recommend to others.

New Release: Rebel Heir by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward

Amazon| iBooks | B&N | Kobo | Google Play | Amazon Paperback

How to kick off a great summer in the Hamptons:

Snag a gorgeous rental on the beach. Check.

Get a job at a trendy summer haunt. Check.

How to screw up a great summer in the Hamptons:

Fall for the one guy with a dark leather jacket, scruff on his face, and intense eyes that doesn’t fit in with the rest of the tony looking crowd. A guy you can’t have when you’ll be leaving at the end of the season.

Check. Check. Check.

I should add—especially when the guy is your sexy, tattooed God of a boss.

Especially when he not only owns your place of employment but inherited half of the town.

Especially when he’s mean to you.

Or so I thought.

Until one night when he demanded I get in his car so he could drive me home because he didn’t want me walking in the dark.

That was sort of how it all started with Rush.

And then little by little, some of the walls of this hardass man started to come down.

I never expected that the two of us, seemingly opposites from the outside, would grow so close.

I wasn’t supposed to fall for the rebel heir, especially when he made it clear he didn’t want to cross the line with me.

As the temperature turned cooler, the nights became hotter. My summer became a lot more interesting—and complicated.

All good things must come to an end, right?

Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming.

Rebel Heir is the first book in the Rush Series Duet. Book Two, Rebel Heart, will release six weeks later on May, 22, 2018.

New Release and Review: Royally Pucked by Pippa Grant

Title: Royally Pucked
Author: Pippa Grant
Genre: Sexy Romantic Comedy
 Release Date: April 6, 2018
A hockey-playing prince, a most improper lady, and one accidental pregnancy…
When you’re an heir so spare that getting attacked by a shark is more likely than you ever wearing the crown, you’re only allowed certain liberties. Yet still, those liberties can bite you in the ass.
Good thing I’m such a charming devil.
Even then, I’ve been banished to America for a year under the pretense of playing professional hockey while my father cleans up my latest mess. But trouble follows me wherever I go. Generally trouble of the beautiful female variety, and Gracie Diamonte is no exception. Or possibly, she’s the best exception.
Until the dinosaur suit. The cookie incident. And the accidental pregnancy.
Of course I’ll do the right thing.

Just as soon as I solve that pesky problem of my royal betrothal.

I’m about to be the biggest scandal to rock my country and there’s a good chance my father may throw me to the sharks after all. The funny thing is I’ve heard that raising children may not be so different from swimming with the sharks. So no matter how you look at things I am Royally Pucked.

Royally Pucked is a hilariously wrong romance between a spare heir and the lady least likely to ever wear a princess crown, complete with dirty cookies, an emotional support monkey, and lots of pucking around. This romantic comedy stands alone with no cheating, cliffhangers and ends happily with a family of… more than two.

Where, oh, where to start with this review. OK..let’s get some basics out of the way. This is a complete stand alone. If you’ve read any of Pippa’s other books you know the characters, but each book is a complete stand alone and just interconnected characters. This book at its core is an accidental pregnancy story. I’ve never been a fan of the accidental pregnancy genre, but I’ve loved all of her other books so I had faith and jumped in. This book does not disappoint.

If you are new to Pippa Grant, she is hilarious, outrageous and quirky. Her books have mayhem, shenanigans, and outrageous antics. You will be laughing out loud and getting the side eye from those around you when you read one of her books. Her books are crazy, ridiculous, and absolutely amazing. Even with all the ridiculousness, there is a sweetness to her characters and a sexiness that will get you hot and bothered.

I think one of the things I love about Pippa is that she’s not afraid of being ridiculous and crazy. There is a saying in the South that we don’t hide our crazy, we parade it on the front porch and give it a cocktail. That’s how I feel about a Pippa Grant book. Parading the crazy with a cocktail in this book is the BEST experience. If you gave me one of her books but didn’t tell me who wrote it, I would know within pages. This author excels with this type of romantic comedy.

Not only does she make you love the main characters and root for their HEA, but she makes you want to know the story of her secondary characters. Even characters that talk very little. I’m on the edge of my seat waiting for Ares’ story. I’m also in the market for dirty cookies and an emotional support monkey. I cannot recommend this author or this book enough. I give out very few 5 stars, but Pippa Grant gets 5 stars from me every time! If you want a really good, light, hilarious, romantic comedy then definitely check out this book!

“I’m afraid my vagina might wither up and die if you try to give it another orgasm so soon.” — Scarlett Bodine

Raised by her three overbearing brothers, Scarlett is a hell-raising tomboy with a tool belt who can drink any man under the table while two-stepping. She’s also nosy enough to claim her temporary next-door neighbor as her new pet project.

Devlin’s life imploded. Marriage, career, five-year plan to Washington, D.C. All destroyed with one well-placed right jab. New Release and Review: Like A Boss by Sylvia Pierce and Lili Valente

Title: Like a Boss
Authors: Sylvia Pierce & Lili Valente
Genre: Sexy, Flirty, Dirty Office Romance
Release Date: March 29, 2018
I’m one puff piece away from tearing up my journalism degree and hurling my laptop into the Hudson River. So when I smell a juicy story brewing at my brother’s Wall Street investment firm, I’ll do whatever it takes to get my scoop.
One clever disguise later, I’m deep undercover as the firm’s newest broker, simultaneously gathering intel and spouting off stock tips like a boss.
Go me, right?
Sure, it sounds good
on paper, but there’s a catch: The actual boss.
Chief Executive
Panty-melter Jack Holt is cocky. Infuriating. And one smoldering look has me
ready to violate every rule in the employee handbook.
Thank God my assignment has an expiration date. Because falling for my brother’s best friend and business partner is a lose-lose proposition. Right?
In the market for a hot tip? Here’s one.
Don’t bang your best friend’s little sister. Especially when she’s an investigative journalist and your company is the target of her latest exposé.
Unfortunately I’ve got a hard-on for high-risk bets, and I’m more than eager to invest my considerable stock holdings in Ellie Seyfried’s… ahem… glorious assets.
Friends with fringe benefits is a sweet deal, but it’s not long before I’m falling harder than the post-bubble Nasdaq, hooked on Ellie’s sweet smile and determination to make the world a better place.

There’s only one problem…

When it comes to risking my money, I’ve mastered every trick in the book. But how the hell do I risk my heart?

div style=”text-align: center;”>

This book is so different and creative and timely.  This book is categorized as a friends to lovers/brother’s best friend book but in reality it’s much more.  You’ll get the traditional of this trope but there is such a different take on how the characters are thrown together and it is refreshing.  The issues and information about society that the book addresses is very timely and poignant.  There are many entertaining nuisances that this book doesn’t feel like it’s been done before.  This is such a quick fun read.  If you are looking for something a little different then definitely check this out.

New Release and Review: Getaway Girl by Tessa Bailey

Title: Getaway Girl
Author: Tessa Bailey
Genre: Adult Contemporary Romance
Release Date: March 26, 2018

This unlikely getaway driver never expected to help the mayor escape…
After a six-year absence, Addison Potts is back in Charleston to stir things up. And what better place to make her villainous return than her estranged cousin’s wedding? Only, the nuptials hit a snag when the bride doesn’t show, leaving Addison to play getaway driver for the jilted groom. A groom whose heartbreaking smile and deep, southern drawl she should not be noticing…
Elijah Montgomery Du Pont is the future mayor of Charleston. From his military career to city hall, every detail of his life has been meticulously planned. Until now. His only respite from life’s sudden upheaval is Addison, his new, improbable best friend. She makes him happy. Grounds him. And public disapproval be damned, he’s not willing to give her up. But with an election on the line and public pressure rising, Addison—and the cruel hand of fate—might not give him a choice.

This book was such a delightful surprise. Just when I thought I had read every plot line out there, this book comes along and gives me hope. This book is so quirky and so refreshing. Even though it’s a friends-to-lovers book, the path to friendship is unusual and the path to lovers is bumpy. I love the randomness of things in this book from how the main characters met to the grandmother’s profession and so much more. This author gets some of the “southern ways” correct, which I appreciated. The book was so good I was ok with any liberties taken with certain parts of the book. This was my first book by Tessa Bailey, but it won’t be my last. If you want a quick read that different and refreshing, then definitely check this book out.

“Well…” I stop to clear the rasp from my voice. “If there’s no picture of us together, we should take one.”
“Good idea.” He crooks his finger at me, unwittingly sealing his fate. “Come here.”
I put my jacket on downstairs when I thought we were leaving, but I take it off now, simply letting it fall. “I want you in the mayor’s chair.”
His eyes stray to my pooled jacket, then tick to mine. “You what?”
“In the picture. I want you sitting in the chair.”
“Oh. Right.” He slides out the brown leather, high-back executive chair and drops into it. “What about you?”
My bravery slips. Whose wouldn’t? This powerful, gorgeous man sits before me, outlined by the city he’s been elected to run. His thighs are thicker than my waist, his sleeves caught up around his elbows. A strong man. A man of conviction who will not be seduced unless he really wants to be.
Or is driven out of his mind and can’t resist.
Before I can second-guess myself, I move between his outstretched thighs and ease myself onto his lap. “Addison.”
I send him an innocent look over my shoulder. “Yes, Captain?”
His chest rises and falls. Once. Twice. “Take the picture.”
The fact that I’m playing with fire stops psyching me out…and begins to excite me. Maybe it’s the gravel in his tone…or the big fists that come to rest on the desk. No…it’s definitely the way he presses his nose to my hair and inhales. As if I’m not going to notice. But I do. I do and it makes me braver. Makes me throb
between my legs.
“The picture, Addison.”
“Sorry.” I lean across the desk where I set my purse, taking my time digging through to find my cell before pulling it out, searching for the camera app. All the while, his muscles bunch beneath me, harder and harder…and that’s when I feel it. His erection lifts under my backside, so thick and glorious, I bite my lip to stop from crying out. I want to, though. I want to sob at the proof that he’s physically attracted to me and at least I have that much.
My hands are shaking as I lift the camera, my instincts screaming at me to grind down. Elijah’s breath is pelting the back of my neck. Other than that he’s completely still, though. But when I flip the camera around to selfie mode and get my
first look at his face, there isn’t a jury on the planet that would rule him unaffected. His eyes are closed, nostrils flared, mouth open against my hair.“You’ve got five seconds,” he says. “Take it, or—”
“Or what?”
Elijah stands up and takes me with him, my ass pressed to his lap, feet dangling off the ground. As if I weigh nothing more than a child. It only lasts for a couple mind-blowing seconds, though, before he settles me on the ground behind his desk. His heat begins to leave me and I sense my chance slipping
away, so I twist around to face him. Still mere inches away from me, he pauses with his head tipped forward, hands flexing at his sides. “We could be more than friends.” After easing myself backwards onto the desk, I snag his necktie and tug him closer, guiding his hips between my open thighs. “Just for tonight.”
His laugh is more like a rough expulsion of air, the scent of bourbon hitting me. “That’s not how things work,” he says, his palms scraping up my thighs, twisting in the hem of my dress. “Goddammit, Addison. You’re not supposed to tempt me like
Tempted. He’s tempted. My blood cells crash together. “I don’t always do what I’m supposed to,” I murmur, leaning up to bring our mouths close, a breath separating them. “If I wasn’t your friend, would you kiss me right now?”
His eyes fasten on my mouth, seeming darker than usual. Predatory. “You felt what you did to my cock, sugar. You know the answer to that.”

Author Bio

Tessa Bailey is originally from Carlsbad, California. The day after high school graduation, she packed her yearbook, ripped jeans and laptop, driving cross-country to New York City in under four days.
Her most valuable life experiences were learned thereafter while waitressing at K-Dees, a Manhattan pub owned by her uncle. Inside those four walls, she met her husband, best friend and discovered the magic of classic rock, managing to put herself through Kingsborough Community College and the English program at Pace University at the same time. Several stunted attempts to enter the work force as a journalist followed, but romance writing continued to demand her attention.
She now lives in Long Island, New York with her husband of ten years and six-year-old daughter. Although she is severely sleep-deprived, she is incredibly happy to be living her dream of writing about people falling in love.
