Review:
This is the first book in the Bluewater Billionaire series. The unique thing about this series is that each of the 4 books will be written by a different author. Each book is focusing on a different character in their friend group. They are all standalones with interconnected characters. The next unique thing about this series is that all of the women are billionaires and have successful careers/companies of their own. Forget all those books you’ve read where the man makes all the money and has the power. It’s now the woman’s turn. In this book, Emily runs a successful cosmetic company. She is a science geek at heart but runs her company and her life like a master. She is formidable. Circumstances cause Emily to need a”fixer” and in steps Derek. Derek is charming, sexy, and funny. He’s also a force to be reckoned with in a very different way. I was captivated by him from the very beginning, and he got more swoony with each chapter.
When you put this alpha female up against this alpha male, what you get is chemistry that leaps off the page. This couple is explosive. Their banter is hilarious, their sparing is electric, and their sexiness is hot. As the story progresses you start to peel away at the layers of these characters. Who you meet in the beginning, is only a part of who they are. By the end of the book you’ll be head over heels for both of them.
As with all of Lucy Score’s books, her side characters are just as interesting as the main ones. The good thing is we know we are getting some of their stories. We get snippets of three friends who will be getting their own books in this series, and it’s just enough to make me want know more. I think my favorite side character is Jane, Emily’s bodyguard/assistant/badass. I know that I need a Jane in my life, and I hope she makes more appearances in the other books.
I have to warn you, there will be parts where you will want to throw your book/e-reader, because of things that happen and how some of the characters act, and there may be parts that are a little slow…but TRUST ME…it is well worth it in the end.
This was a great start to a very different kind of series. And I have to say…it’s about time that the women get to be smart, successful, and rich ones. You definitely need to read this book.
