What’s a harmless little adrenaline-fueled fling between neighbors? It’s all naked fun and games until the shadows from Mack’s past find their way into her present. Can Linc be her hero when she needs him the most or will their scars ruin everything?

Review

I have been looking forward to this book since 2015 when we were first introduced to Linc.  I was both  excited and cautious.  This book exceeded my expectations.  Both Linc and his love interest, Mack, are perfect.  They are amazing individually and absolutely perfect together.

Let me back up a little.  This book is a standalone.  While you do not need to have read the other books in this world, I do think you will have a better appreciation of some of the events in this book and some of the characters if you do.  There are some references that might make more sense.  Also, you may see some people say they were surprised by who Mack is (she is in the other books…sort of).  I was not.  If you’ve followed this author from the beginning and love and appreciate her writing as I do, then Mack is the perfect choice.  It brings everything together.

If you read the other books and you are unsure about Linc’s story..don’t be.  He is so sexy, swoony, and sweet.  You can’t help but fall in love with him from the beginning.   From how he interacts with his family, his dog, his co-workers, and most especially with Mack, he will check many (if not all) of your book boyfriend must-haves.  Mack is amazing herself.  She’s one of those characters that you are in awe of what they do and want to be like because of who they are at the same time.  Then when you put these two together the chemistry and heat are just leaping off the page.

The story itself is jam-packed.  While it is a small town rom-com, there is also suspense and danger.  It is very hot and steamy at times, and sweet and heartwarming at others.  It takes you through a range of emotions and makes you feel in the best possible way.

I have to address their professions.  Linc is a fire chief and Mack is a doctor/flight trauma surgeon.  There are moments when you really feel like you are in the situation with them.  From the way the scene is described to the dialogue (both internal and external), you really feel a part of it and get a small glimpse of what people in these professions go through.

I can’t leave a review for a Lucy Score book without addressing the secondary characters.  The children and the dogs are the ones that make this book even more special.  We do get a little of the main characters from the other books, and it’s nice to check in with them.

You definitely need to read all about Chief Sexy Pants and Doc Dreamy.
