The Worst Guy by Kate Canterbary is now live!
Eight weeks of forced proximity is a long time to hate someone you’re trying not to love.
Sebastian Stremmel doesn’t need another headache. He has enough of his own without Sara Shapiro, the noisy new reconstructive surgeon, stomping all around his surgical wing with her chippy, chirpy cheerfulness.
But Sebastian doesn’t usually get what he wants.
No one gets under his skin like Sara – so much so a heated “debate” and an exam room left in shambles later, they land themselves in eight weeks of hospital-mandated conflict resolution counseling. Now they’re forced to fight fair…which quickly leads them to playing dirty when no one’s looking.
They know it’s a mistake.
They promise themselves it will never happen again.
They swear they got it out of their systems.
They didn’t.
Author’s Note: Grumpy/recovering people-pleaser sunshine. Introverts attract. Enemies-to-lovers in the workplace. Banter, bicker, and button-pushing foreplay. Don’t tell the friend group, get jealous when the friend group tries to fix her up.
Heat: rip her clothes off before you get the front door open.
Review:
This was one of my most anticipated books ever. We’ve met Stremmel in a variety of other books and just had a glimpse into who he is. I just knew once we got his story it was going to be amazing. Don’t worry, you do not need to have read any other book to enjoy this book. But I will warn you that you will want to go back and read about some of the other characters in this book.
Stremmel is the grumpiest of grumps, and the more he complains, the more I love him. He is grumpy in the best way, and once you start breaking down his hard shell, he becomes even better. Sara is a whole lot of things rolled into one. With her patients and coworkers, she is nice and kind but also introverted and reserved. But with Stremmel she is prickly and feisty and takes no shit from him. There is so much depth to both of these characters. They both deal with some very real issues. These issues are dealt with and incorporated in who they are and not glossed over. I appreciate this so much because it makes the characters more relatable even if you do not experience their specific issue.
Not only are the characters captivating, but the enemies-to-lovers story is one of the best I’ve read. The arguments and banter between these two are so entertaining. You can feel the animosity between these two. Their “fights” during therapy are filled with tension but are also funny. I had a variety of emotions on this roller coaster of a journey between these two. I loved every minute of it. The steamy times are very hot and explosive. They take hate sex to a new level.
The Worst Guy is one of the very BEST books! I cannot recommend it enough.
