Blurb:
A slow grin spread across his face and I had to turn away from the wattage. It was like staring at the sun. The handsome sun that was making my core temperature rise and causing a hormone dump in my brain. — Shelby Thompson
Personal trainer Jonah Bodine discovers more than he bargained for with the half-siblings he didn’t know he had in small-town West Virginia. Not only is his dead father a person of interest in a cold case disappearance, but the entire town seems way too invested in Jonah’s happily ever after potential.
His summer of solitude in a lakeside cottage is ruined when his matchmaking sister saddles him with an unwanted roommate.
Adorable, snort-laughing nerd Shelby Thompson came to Bootleg Springs looking for answers and ends up getting adopted by the town’s nosy elders. Maneuvered into sharing a cottage with the handsome trainer, she makes the best of a sticky situation by offering her perpetually shirtless roommate a strings-free summer fling.
Jonah is tempted. Very tempted. But Shelby has secrets. And as the Callie Kendall mystery unravels, Shelby’s own past comes back to haunt her. The danger is very real and so are the feelings she’s developing for Jonah.
Pleasure Buttons: Small-town. Romantic comedy. Romantic suspense. Summer fling. Roommates to lovers. Rescued puppies. Family series. Mystery. Happily ever after.
Review:
This is the fifth book in the Bootleg Springs series. While I think you could probably read this book as a standalone, I do believe you wouldn’t get the full impact of the book if you had not read the series. While each book in the series focuses on a different couple and each does have a HEA, there is an underlining mystery through all of the series. In this book many more puzzle pieces both fall into place and confuse you even more on what happened to Callie Kendall.
Jonah and Shelby’s story definitely takes a journey. They start off as enemies, then move to reluctant roommates, then friends to lovers. I love everything about this couple, these characters, and their story. They both are not sure where they fit in and they both feel a little lost. I love how they find their way to each other and to a place of belonging. This book is funny, sweet, and sexy. Jonah is definitely swoon worthy. Shelby is smart and feisty. Throughout this book you will experience all the feels…happy tears, shouts of joy, snorts of laughter, shocked revelation, frustration (both good and bad), steaminess, and more. This is the perfect next book in this series.
In this book we get to check on all of the other couples that we’ve met before. I loved how all of the other characters are woven into this story. More importantly, the mystery of Callie Kendall has some drastic turns and several new developments. We learned a lot, but there’s still so much more to know before the mystery is solved.
With each book, I love this series even more. This book and the entire series is very well thought out and draws you in. It is definitely one of my favorite series. I can’t wait to find out what happens in the next book. You definitely need to read this book and this series.
